NEIGHBORS BOXOFFICE REPORT:

Neighbors managed to gross a huge $51 million in its opening weekend in North America, finishing the weekend in first place. By that time, the film had earned an additional $34.4 million from international markets, in some of which it had been released one week earlier, on May 2, 2014. Neighbors managed to become the fifth-largest Stateside opening for an R-rated comedy in history. Another milestone the film pulled was that it dethroned The Amazing Spider-Man 2 at the box office this weekend, exceeding expectations with an estimated $51.1 million debut. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 dropped 59% this weekend, falling to second place with $37.2 million after the release of  Seth Rogen and Zac Efron's family vs. frat comedy 'Neighbors'. Neighbors stunning $51.1 million this weekend is the second biggest debut weekend ever for a non-sequel/non-spin off R-rated comedy behind only Ted which grossed $54m.

The weekend's biggest disappointmen was the newcomer Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return. The animated/family movie grossed a mere $3.7 million for an eighth place finish. However another Comedy/Drama starring Cameron Diaz titled 'The Other Woman' finished at the no. 3 spot with a gross of $ 9.3 million through the weekend.
