Dear White People is a upcoming 2014 American satire drama film written and directed by Justin Simien. The film focuses on students of color attending Ivy League college in America and stars Tyler James Williams, Tessa Thompson, Teyonah Parris, Brandon P Bell, Kyle Gallner, Brittany Curran and Dennis Haysbert.
The film premiered in-competition in the US Dramatic Category at 2014 Sundance Film Festival on January 18, 2014.
It is scheduled to be released on 17 October 2014 (USA).
Plot:
"A satire that follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college where a riot breaks out over a popular 'African American' themed party thrown by white students. With tongue planted firmly in cheek, the film explores racial identity in 'post-racial' America while weaving a universal story of forging one's unique path in the world."
