EK VILLAIN 2014 BOXOFFICE AND REVIEW - ROMANCE/ACTION/THRILLER

BOXOFFICE AND REVIEW:

"Ek Villain"  In one word its a 'Decent' thriller flick. Do not let you expectations rise too high as the movie is losely based on a Korean thriller film by the name 'I Saw The Devil'. Still, the director of the movie 'Mohit Suri' tried to kept it very much original.
Bad guy with a good heart 'Guru' played by Siddharth Malhotra showed his potential in a very challenging role of a fearless gangster. This will be his breakthrough role in recent times & will get him plenty of offers and new roles, for sure.

Ritesh Desmukh as The Serial Killer stunned the audience with his phenomenal performance...Watch out everyone who plays negative characters because a New Villain is born who is brilliant throughout the movie. Looks to me like a cousin of Shahrukh Khan's character in Darr & Bazigar...Yes, Ritesh was that good.

Shraddha as Aisha also kept her act original and innocent as the script demanded. She was sweet, bubbly & chirpy girl who wants to live her life to the fullest & has joke for every occasion. Her aim of life is to fill her wish list and make others happy, she also did justice with her role...
Ankit Tiwari, the music composer does a splendid job on the music album of the movie. All the songs of the movie were great.
Mithoon and Soch (Band) for giving soulful music.

Another character in the movie (name disclosed at the moment) was asusual very cheap and irritating...You'll have to watch 'Ek Villain' to believe it !

Boxoffice:

As Ek Villain came close to release, there were some certainties that were already established. First and foremost, the songs, promos and some aggressive marketing had made the film super hot. Secondly, it had peaked at just the right time. Thirdly, it was all set to take an opening of over 10 crore. But no one thought of a huge figure of 16.72cr.

Ek Villain‘s word-of-mouth is extremely positive, which clearly indicated that the film has worked with its target audience.

It grossed a massive 16.72 crore on day one and held super tight on day 2 (Saturday) and collected 15.50 crore. It made a total of 32.22 crore in two days. The film performed great on Sunday too and as per sources, it went on to collect another massive figure of 17.50 crore.

Ek Villain is now officialy the second highest grosser of the year 2014, falling short of Jai Ho by just a few lakhs.

However, what happened eventually turned out to be simply fantabulous, what with records being created. After all, who would have thought that the opening of this Sidharth Malhotra-Shraddha Kapoor-Riteish Deshmukh film would actually challenge Salman Khan's Jai Ho for the highest opening film of 2014, and that too on a non-holiday release??
