Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Rakes in 125 Million Worldwide in 7 Days

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles released on August 8, 2014 & has grossed $97,162,000 in North America as of August 15, 2014, and an estimated $28,700,000 in other countries, for a worldwide total of $125,862,000.

During its opening day, the film grossed $25.6 million, including $4.6 million from Thursday night showings. In its first weekend, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles opened in first place with $65.6 million, which exceeded Paramount and box office analysts's predictions of a $40 to $45 million opening, and achieved the fourth highest weekend debut for the month of August.

With The Expendables 3 bombing, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Guardians of the Galaxy easily held on to the top two spots at the box office on Friday. Ninja Turtles fell 69 percent to an estimated $7.9 million.

Turtles will pass $100 million sometime today; for the weekend, it should wind up anywhere from $24 to $27 million. Guardians of the Galaxy eased 44 percent to $6.95 million. It passed $200 million yesterday, and in the process moved ahead of Summer 2014 releases Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Godzilla and The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

OTHER RELEASES IN AUGUST

For the weekend, Guardians will likely earn around $24 million. The Expendables 3 opened in third place with an estimated $5.88 million. That's down 44 percent from The Expendables 2, which is a horrible drop for a closely-timed sequel. Maybe this was all because of the 'DVD quality print' leak on the internet a few weeks ago. Makers were determined for a better opening but the film was pushed down due to Ninja Turtles & Gaurdians of the Galaxy still running successfully in theaters all around the globe.
