ROBOCOP REBOOT 2014 - BOXOFFICE


RoboCop is an upcoming 2014 American science fiction action film directed by Jose Padilha. It is a remake of the 1987 film of the same name and a reboot of the RoboCop film series, making it the fourth installment of the franchise. The film stars Joel Kinnaman in the title role.

The film released in both the United States and United Kingdom on February 12, 2014.

BoxOffice:

Robocop is currently the third highest grosser of the year 2014 till March with a worldwide gross of  240 million $. 
The opening day of the movie was impressive in the United States and Canada where it grossed $2,808,698 in 3,372 theaters, ranked #1 ahead of The Lego Movie, The Monuments Men and Ride Along.Robocop earned $21.5 million in its opening weekend worldwide and ranked at # 3.
However the film failed to put up good numbers in the upcoming week 2 and 3.
The film under performed with mixed critic ratings and could'nt gross very good despite the heavy promotional campaign and the hype around the reboot pre release.

As of 30 March 2014, Robocop has grossed $57 million domestically and $182 million internationally, for a very low total worldwide gross of about $240 million.


Plot:

"The year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured by a car-bomb in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and even more billions for their shareholders, but they never counted on one thing: there is still a man inside the machine pursuing justice."
