Opening Weekend: $93,188,384 (USA) (16 May 2014)
Gross: $193,095,084 (USA) (19 June 2014)

The film made $9.3 million domestically at late-night screenings on May 15, the day before its release, the second highest for a 2014 film so far and one of the best late-night openings for a non-sequel.
Its opening weekend gross of $93.2 million broke the records for the highest weekend debuts for a disaster film and a creature feature. It was estimated that approximately half of the gross was in 3D screenings. On its opening day of June 13 in China, Godzilla grossed $10.9 million for the largest opening day in China of 2014.
As of June 20, 2014, the film has earned $193,625,000 in North America and an estimated $248,300,000 in other territories for a worldwide total of $441,925,000.

In its second weekend, which saw competition from X-Men: Days of Future Past, Godzilla had a 66% drop, similar to the second weekend drop of the 1998 film. Based on the drop, Box Office Guru estimated that "a domestic final of around $200 million seems likely" for the film. The 1998 film had a final domestic tally of $231 million adjusted for inflation. Godzilla fell by roughly two-thirds" and that "with China and Japan still to open, a final worldwide gross of over $500M is still possible."
