71 is an upcoming 2014 British film set in Northern Ireland, written by Gregory Burke and directed by Yann Demange. Ot tells the story of a British soldier who becomes separated from his unit during a riot in Belfast at the height of the Troubles in 1971.
The film is funded by the British Film Institute, Film4, Creative Scotland and Screen Yorkshire.
The film had its premiere in the competition section of the 64th Berlin International Film Festival and is scheduled to release on 10th October 2014 (UK).
Plot:
"A young and disoriented British soldier (Jack O’Connell) is accidentally abandoned by his unit following a riot on the deadly streets of Belfast in 1971. Unable to tell friend from foe, and increasingly wary of his own comrades, the raw recruit must survive the night alone and find his way to safety through a disorientating, alien and deadly landscape."
